Cameras

3D cameras

Cameras that include height: pointcloud, volume or pose. Use 3D when a 2D image cannot tell you where the part sits in space.

Typical station

Grasp pose in a bin

Parts lie mixed. A 2D image does not give a reliable grasp pose or a free approach. A 3D camera returns a pointcloud the robot uses to plan the pick. The same need shows up on depalletising and on height inspection that a gray image cannot close. Working volume, accuracy and cycle time decide the sensing method more than the brand name. If a flat print check is enough, stay on area scan. Background: selecting a 3D camera.

Help with selection

Send samples or a photo of the station. We will say which models fit, and which lens and lighting they need.
