A line-scan camera records one pixel line at a time. Relative motion between camera and material supplies the second image dimension, so successive lines form one continuous 2D image.

Divide transport speed by the required sample distance in the direction of travel. Use consistent units and allow margin for speed variation, exposure and the camera's supported operating mode.

Choose area scan when the complete stationary or triggered part fits inside one field of view. Line scan suits continuous material, very long products and applications that need consistent sampling across a wide surface.

Choose mono when intensity and sensitivity contain enough inspection information. Choose color when color differences are part of the inspection criterion, and account for the additional data and lighting requirements.

The family includes GigE, 2.5GigE, Camera Link, fiber variants and CoaXPress. Availability depends on the exact resolution and mono/color configuration, so verify the interface at SKU level.
