Cameras
2D cameras that capture the whole field of view in a single exposure. The usual choice for locate, measure and inspect when the part fits that field.
Typical station
On an indexing table or in a fixture the part comes to rest. The PLC triggers, the camera takes a 2D image, then you locate a position, measure a gap or check presence. If the part still moves during exposure, a global shutter keeps edges from shearing. More megapixels help only when the smallest defect and the field of view ask for them. If the product never fits the field because it runs continuously, line scan is the better start. Long cable or several cameras on one switch: look at GigE next. Background: what an area-scan camera is.
Send samples or a photo of the station. We will say which models fit, and which lens and lighting they need.
