Selection question
Parcels and industrial objects can have too little surface contrast for reliable 2D measurement. Height, volume and the position of separate objects then have to come from depth data. The practical choice is governed by the task, the available distance above the process and the required measurement range.
MV-DB combines RGB-D smart cameras for logistics tasks with a longer-range structured-light stereo model for general 3D measurement and robot guidance. Compare application, clearance distance and measurement range first. Then verify field of view, output data, frame rate or output delay against the real cycle.
EDP means Empty, Double and Position. These variants check whether a carrier is empty, contains more than one parcel, or carries a parcel in the wrong position.
The selector retains only combinations that exist as real SKUs. Clearance distance is the free space between the camera and the start of its measurement volume. Measurement range is the usable depth interval beyond that point.
Volume measurement; 500 mm clearance distance and 1500 mm measurement range. The specified high-precision mode runs at 12 fps.
General 3D measurement and robot guidance; 1100 mm clearance distance and 2100 mm measurement range. Its specified image output delay is 1.2 to 1.5 seconds and must be included in the cycle-time test.
Parcel singulation; 500 mm clearance distance and 1500 mm measurement range. The specified singulation mode runs at 25 fps.
EDP detection; 500 mm clearance distance and 1500 mm measurement range. The specified EDP mode runs at 20 fps.
Low-clearance EDP detection; 300 mm clearance distance and 700 mm measurement range. The specified EDP mode runs at 30 fps.
Low-clearance parcel singulation; 300 mm clearance distance and 700 mm measurement range. The specified singulation mode runs at 30 fps.
A useful acceptance test covers the complete operating range rather than one easy sample. Agree the pass/fail criteria before selecting the final model.
Calculate the case with measured process data. Camera specifications alone do not establish the return.

The specified measurement volume begins 500 mm from the camera. From there, the 1500 mm measurement range extends to a maximum distance of 2000 mm (500 + 1500). Keep all surfaces that must be measured within this depth interval and within the field of view. The field of view increases from 580 × 470 mm at the near limit to 2500 × 1800 mm at the far limit.
MV-DB700S-C-V3.0 and MV-DB700S-S-V3.0 specify a 300 mm clearance distance and a 700 mm measurement range. The C model is for EDP detection; the S model is for singulation.
The 500S-V is specified for volume measurement, the 500S-S for singulation and the 500S-C for EDP detection. They share a 500 mm clearance distance and 1500 mm measurement range, but their output data and specified operating modes differ.
Consider it for general 3D measurement or robot guidance when the installation can provide 1100 mm clearance and needs a 2100 mm measurement range. Its specified 1.2 to 1.5 second image output delay must be validated against the cycle time.
No. Frame rate describes image acquisition in a specified mode. System throughput also depends on exposure, processing, communication, PLC logic, object spacing and reject handling. Measure the complete trigger-to-result cycle.
Check the complete object range, field of view at the actual mounting height, depth-result repeatability, ambient-light sensitivity, invalid-result handling, communication timing, cleaning access and the laser safety requirements of the selected SKU.
