Coordinate camera connections, power and data storage

A vision controller must keep every connected camera available while the inspection software records the required production data. PoE support changes the power arrangement and controller load. Storage capacity affects logging, image retention and maintenance when the system approaches its available space.

Selection question

Choose power delivery and storage independently

Every model provides four GigE connections, an N97 processor and 8 GB memory. Select PoE when compatible cameras or other devices must receive power through Ethernet. Select storage from the operating-system, application, logging and image-retention requirements.

Calculate the complete load

The PoE variants document a total PoE loading of 20 W. Check the combined demand of connected devices, including startup conditions. The controller power-consumption values are specified without a light source, so lighting power must be included separately.

With or without PoE support

Use a non-PoE version when the connected equipment has separate power. Use a PoE version when power over Ethernet is part of the approved connection concept and the documented total load is sufficient.

SSD only or SSD plus HDD

The 128 GB SSD versions suit configurations whose installed software and retained data fit within the available space. The versions with an additional 1 TB HDD provide separate capacity for applications that retain more logs or images. Confirm usable capacity and the deletion policy in the final software configuration.

Validate the complete inspection load

Acceptance should use the intended cameras, lighting, software and production cycle.

Start all devices together and confirm stable recognition after a cold start and controlled restart.
Run acquisition, inspection and data logging at the required cycle time.
Record processor and memory load, dropped frames, network interruptions, storage growth and controller temperature.
For PoE models, verify the combined device load and recovery after a power or network interruption.
