Core choice

Global vs rolling shutter

Global shutter exposes all pixels at once, usually safer with motion. Rolling shutter scans rows: cheaper/compact, but prone to smear on fast parts or vibration.

Choose global when

Moving parts, robots in view, or tight gauging under takt.

Rolling can work when

Static or slow scene, modest geometry needs, and strobe freezes motion.

Include lighting

Strobe + trigger latency decide whether shutter type even shows up.

Timing

Trigger path you must specify

Document who is master (PLC, encoder, camera), what latency budget you have, and how reject timing is guaranteed.

    Exposure short enough for blur; strobe synced and bright enough for contrast.
