Lighting
Backlights, ring lights, bar lights, dome/panel lights and strobe, each suited to different surfaces, speeds and defects. Sedeco designs illumination into the camera stack.
Types that decide image quality
Optimal lighting drastically improves extraction accuracy before any algorithm runs.
| Type | What it does | When we reach for it |
|---|---|---|
| Backlight | Silhouette, presence, edge gauging | Opaque parts, clear outlines |
| Ring light | Above the object, controlled shadows | General inspection, codes |
| Bar / directional | Direction and shadow for texture | Scratches, emboss, topography cues |
| Dome / panel (diffuse) | Soft, even light on shiny parts | Specular metal, curved packaging |
| Strobe | Freeze motion at takt | High-speed lines, conveyors |
Smart cameras often include lighting, until the surface fights back. PC-based cells get dedicated LED and controllers so intensity and timing stay deterministic.
